4/10/09 - mixing is done - sent off for mastering
just sent off the mix to be mastered. the process is going to take about a month. after i get it back it will take about two months for it to show up on-line. the final album was reduced to an EP length which helped focus the project. the other tracks will probably be available for download for free on this web site soon.
5/20/09 - finishing up score
almost done withe the notation for my latest project. you can download the finished pieces from the sheet music page.
biography
composer/pianist timothy johnson uses meticulous harmonies and strong structures to create a unique style that is complex yet accessible. his style incorporates traditional american forms with minimalism.
he was a student of Alan Hovanhess and has written for piano, orchestra, and film.
timothy johnson currently lives in the san francisco bay area where, when he is not working on music, tends to his garden of ill repair.

2/16/09 - injured my hand
i injured my finger and will now be in a splint for a month or so. makes it impossible to play but i figure that i’ll work on the ever elusive left hand and try to increase dexterity on the “non-dominant” hand.
6/11/09 - EP sent off for electronic distribution
it takes 4 to 6 weeks to show up in the on-line stores. i’ll post a link when it goes live.

7/12/09 - operation: fear
the original soundtrack to “operation: fear” is complete and sent off for distribution. it should be available at the retailers sometime in august 09

watch me play “sky through the trees” live - or just my hands...
It took a bit of scaffolding to get this angle but I think it is interesting just to see the hands and not the player. It looks like I’m not playing but I have been accused of that before - a piano teacher once told me she thought I was pretending to play a “player piano”.
10/27/09 - working on new music and videos
i’m working on a new album that will hopefully be done next year. this time full length for solo piano - i’ve had enough of the multiple piano stuff for awhile. i’m also starting a series of videos, “live from my living room” of me playing my favorite music. here is an audio file from one of the sets with me playing Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Reversing.mp3”
I also added new pictures and a silly video that i did for work.
